Hiroshi Chinen
89, of Kaneohe, saw the glory of God, as Heaven opened its gates and joyously received him on October 14, 2017. Born in Lahaina, Maui, he retired as the Shipyard Facilities and Equipment Administrator for Matson Navigation Company. He touched many lives as his lifetime ministry of serving our Lord was shared throughout the world. Hiroshi's presence will be greatly missed; however, we rejoice with him, as he is in the presence of our Loving Father. Preceded by his wife, Dorothy, he is survived by his children, Cynthia (John) Bortfeld, Sandra (Glenn) Shimabukuro, Calvin (Joy) Chinen, and Paul (Doreen) Chinen; 13 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and his siblings, Fusako Chinen, Mitzi Yoshimoto, Stanley Seie (Miriam) Chinen and Nancy (Robert) Okuda. 91, of Honolulu, a retired home economics teacher, passed away on Sept. 21, 2017 in Honolulu. She graduated from the University of Hawaii, and taught at Honokaa High, where she met her late husband, Minoru. After they married, she spent a year at Kohala High and a year at Columbia University. She then spent two years at Hilo Intermediate, two years at Dole Intermediate, and 30 years at McKinley High. She is survived by son, Bruce (Laura); daughter, Lori Chun; brother, William Harada, and by four grandchildren. Private services held.
