88, passed away peacefully, after a short illness, on April 14, 2017, surrounded by her family. Born in Wailuku, Maui, she was a retired school librarian at Jarrett Middle School. She lived a full life and loved to cook, bake and crochet, and happily shared what she made with everyone, always with a smile. She will be remembered for her delicious cookies, desserts and handcrafted scrubbers, beanies, and all things crocheted. Her generosity extended to her volunteer work at the Japanese Cultural Center Gift Shop, and community and Lions club activities with her late husband. Preceded in death by husband Robert Fujita, she is survived by children Gary, Anne (Robert) Tome; grandchildren Darren (Stephanie), Brandon (Christina), Jordan; great-grandchild Leah; brother Robert (Lois) Takata. Miriam's celebration of life will be held on Saturday, June 17, 2017 at Hosoi Garden Mortuary. Visitation at 3:00pm, services at 4:00 pm. Private inurnment at National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific.
