Tomeko “Tommie” Kato Kellner

87, died peacefully of natural causes on July 6, 2017. She was born June 7, 1930 in Kofu City, Yamanashi Ken, Japan. Tomeko immigrated to the United States with her first husband, RADM James M. Peters. She graduated from Park University in Missouri before coming to Hawaii with her two children. After her divorce, she worked in local television and radio, before shifting to a career in advertising. While both were employed at KHVH, she met her life's partner, Jack S. Kellner, who was a wonderful second father, loved by both her children. They were married for nearly 50 years, before Jack's passing in 2012. Although English was her second language, she was extremely successful in advertising as media director and account manager for several advertising agencies such as Lennen & Newell and Bozell & Jacobs/ Pacific. She was Advertising Manager for Servco Pacific and then, Duty Free Shoppers.She was a consultant to Suntory International and Louis Vuitton in Hawaii. Honolulu Magazine once named her "Adwoman of the Year." Tomeko is survived by her son, James "Aki" Peters, daughter, Betty Perry Santos (Wayne), grandsons Jeffrey (Kari Ann) and Jason Peters; Jordan, Dallas, and Wayne (Akolea) Santos. A service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at Hosoi Garden Mortuary; visitation from 5:00 p.m. Casual attire.
