96, of Honolulu peacefully passed in his sleep on July 2, 2017. He was born in Pepeekeo. He proudly served in the 442nd RCT 552nd FAB and retired from civil service at Ft Shafter. He is survived by his children: Dean (May Huang) Fujiwara, Paula (Gary Skiles) Fujiwara and Jill (Troy) Aylor; 3 grand- children, 1 great grandchild and his siblings, Teruto Fujiwara (brother) and Tokie Nakano (sister). He was preceded in death by: Ann N Takaki (wife), Guy Y Fujiwara (son) and Harry I Fujihara (brother). Memorial service 10 am on Saturday (August 5) at Hosoi Mortuary. Burial 2 pm on Monday (August 7) at Punchbowl. No flowers.
Kunie Hamano Kiyabu
97, born on September 28, 1919, in Kapaa, Kauai, passed away on July 15, 2017 in Nuuanu Hale. She is predeceased by her husband Francis T. Kiyabu, Sr.; son Francis, Jr.; and grand- daughter, Kristin Herel. She is survived by daughters Katherine (Warren) Takagi and Elfrieda (James) Atkins; 4 grand- children and 9 great-grand- children. William Susumu Tokushige
89, of Honolulu, passed away on July 2, 2017. Born in Honolulu, he was a retired chief construction engineer for the City and County of Honolulu and a Korean War Army veteran. He is survived by his wife, Mildred; son, Brian (Elizabeth) Tokushige; daughter, Liane (Calvin) Pang; four grand- children; brother, George (Chee) Tokushige; sisters, Dorothy Sakai and Cassie (Gerry) Uyekubo. Francis K.Y. Mau
Francis Koon You Mau passed away in Honolulu, Hawaii on July 12, 2017, at the age of 91. Francis was born on May 9, 1926 and raised in Honolulu, the 4th of 5 sons of Yin Fong Mau and Kim Len Won Mau. He attended Maryknoll School and graduated from St. Louis School in 1943. Francis attended the University of Hawaii at Manoa, graduating with a degree in Engineering in 1947. He subsequently attended The Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD, receiving his Masters Degree in Sanitary Engineering in 1948. After graduation, he drove across country with classmates, arriving in Los Angeles to catch the boat home to Hawaii. Francis' first professional job in Hawaii was with the Suburban Water System for the Territory of Hawaii. Soon after, he accepted a position with the United States Navy, Bureau of Yards & Docks, as a sanitary engineer, supporting the Navy's many water works programs throughout the world for the next 35+ years. He also served as a water works consultant for many projects & resorts in the State. After retiring from the Environmental Division, Naval Facilities Engineering Command, Pearl Harbor, Francis moved on to a life that he was well-suited for, playing golf, tennis, volleyball and many other activities, including taking his daily naps. Francis met Lorraine through a mutual friend at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, in 1944, in a Tu Chiang Sheh - Te Chih Sheh social event. The fraternity-sorority events provided the dating opportunities for them. Although Lorraine had career plans as a journalist to continue her education in Minnesota, she chose LOVE, and they were married on May 24, 1949. They recently celebrated 68 years together. For Francis & Lorraine, FAMILY was the priority. They both agreed early on that they would have 4 children, but when the first 4 children were all GIRLS, they decided to keep on trying, succeeding in adding 2 sons & a daughter to the family. They also decided that they would do whatever they could do to provide for their children's education. Today, all 7 children have earned advanced degrees, and although Francis was a man of few words, his children all knew he was very proud of them. Francis was looking forward to attending his daughter's alumni recognition at Creighton University in September 2017. Francis is survived by his loving wife, Lorraine and his seven children - Geraldine Mizuko (Mark), Katherine Mau, Barbara Kashiwabara (Ross), Patricia Hanson (Barney), Wayne Mau, Marjorie Mau (Ted Mala), and Glenn Mau. Eighteen grandchildren & three great-grandchildren helped mellow Koon Koon/Tai Koon over the years, becoming a source of pride, joy & adventure for him - Lorrie Mizuko, Alan Mizuko (Zhong Han), Megan Mizuko, Elisse Takara, Karessa Kavanaugh (Dave), Kyrene Konopolsky (Adam), Christine Toguchi (Shane), Wendy Kashiwabara, Ryan Kashiwabara, Po'okela Hanson, Pomaika'i Hanson, Pono Hanson, Heather Mau, Joshua Mau, Makana Ng, Ka'ulu Ng, Ray Mau Mala, Mia Mau Mala, Chase Larson, Kaylee Kavanaugh, and Dane Toguchi. Francis is also survived by two brothers - William and Walter - and was preceded in death by brothers, George & Clarence, and sister, Florence. Uncle Frank is also survived by many nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Francis' life will be held on Wednesday, August 2, 2017, at the Church of the Holy Nativity, 5286 Kalanianaole Highway, Honolulu, Hawaii 96821. Visitation begins at 9:00 a.m., followed by a service at 10:00 a.m. Inurnment will take place after the service. Aloha attire. No flowers; leis are welcome.

Toshiko "Janice" Mente passed away at home peacefully on May 16, 2017. Born February 1, 1922 in Hiroshima, Japan, she lived most of her 95 years in Honolulu, coming to Hawaii as a mere toddler. She retired from Kuakini Hospital where she worked as a dedicated nurse's aide. She enjoyed life as a homemaker and was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her family, friends and neighbors will miss her abundant energy and thoughtful acts of kindness for all she came to know. She is survived by her brother, Robert Masuda; children, Earl and Annette Mente; her grand- daughter, Lianne Rogers and two great-grandchildren, Claire and Cole. A private service was held. The family requests no monetary gifts; just the sharing of good thoughts and prayers for their mother's journey to Enlightenment. The family also wishes to express their sincere thanks to all her wonderful healthcare providers and especially to her loving caregivers.

ERIC DEAN MITOMI
Eric Dean Mitomi passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Sunday, July 2, 2017, at the young age of 51. He was born on June 11, 1966, in Los Angeles, California, the only child of Sandra E. Mitomi, and raised in Honolulu. He graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1984 and earned an Associate of Science Degree in Paralegal Studies from Kapiolani Community College in 1990. Eric met the love of his life, Geri, while paddling canoe in high school and they have been together ever since. They have been happily married for 24 years and have four sons, Adam (Kekoa), Noah (Kealii), Marc (Kalae) and Liam (Kaulana). He began his professional career as a paralegal with the Law Firm of Deeley, King and Pang. Eric served in the US Army Reserves for over 33 years reaching the coveted rank of Command Sergeant Major in which he served in the 1984th US Army Hospital, Area Support Group Falcon, Task Force Falcon, Multi-National Brigade - East, Kosovo, US Forces Korea Support Unit, and the US Army Pacific Support Unit. He also served in various additional units including the 100th Battalion 442nd Infantry. As a civilian, he held the position of the Certified Safety and Occupational Health Manager and worked for the Department of the Army for 15 years in the 9th Mission Support Command and the Dental Health Command of the Pacific at Tripler Army Medical Center. He was a recipient of the Secretary of Army and Chief of Staff, Army, Individual Award of Excellence in Safety and the Director of Safety, Risk Management Award. More than anything else, Eric loved spending time with his family and friends and also enjoyed cooking, watching football, going to Las Vegas, and fishing. His legacy lives on through his wife, partner, and soul mate Geralyn Kahealani (Kimokeo), sons Adam (Auralyn Thomas), Noah, Marc, and Liam. He is also survived by his mother, Sandra E. Mitomi and many loving relatives. Visitation begins at 5:00 pm, Wednesday, August 2, 2017, at Hosoi Garden Mortuary; service 6:00 pm. Celebration of Life at 9:30 am, Thursday, August 3, 2017, at Aliamanu Military Reservation Chapel (open post). Full military honors at internment, Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific at 10:30 am.
